J. A. Dupont officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery. He died suddenly at 6:45 a.m. Thursday in Mercy hospital after having been taken there only a few hours earlier. He had been in ill health for several years, and spent five months in the University hospital at Iowa City last year. Taken Ill in Dubuque He was taken seriously ill Wednesday night while in Dubuque, and was rushed to Mercy hospital. There doctors performed an operation on him early Thursday morning in a vain effort to save his life. Pat was born on a farm in Jefferson township April 12, 1902, the son of G. H. and Caroline Matt Kann. He was 35 years old at the time of his passing. He attended St. Mary's school here until he was nine years old, when he moved with his parents to Rozellville, Wis., where he finished his schooling. They later moved to Marshfield, and then returned to Guttenberg when Pat, whose given name was Silverius Andrew, was 17 years old. He lived in Guttenberg all the rest of his life, except for short intervals. He worked most of the time in the Chevrolet garage here, but was forced to leave that employment because of his health. He also worked in a garage in Danbury, Iowa. In 1936, he spent from April until August in Iowa City. He worked at Lakeside for about three months after his recovery, and left there last summer to open a tavern in partnership with his cousin, William Kann. He is survived by his mother, five brothers, J. Henry Kann of Jefferson township, Fred Kann of Danbury, Ed. Kann of Stratfield, Wis., George Kann of Stratfield, Wis., and Ted Kann of Guttenberg; and five sisters, Mrs. Lillian Dickman of Mitchell, S.D., Mrs. Johanna Brandt of Fond du Lac, Wis., Mrs. Mathilda Grimmer of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Mary Adler Marshfield, Wis., and Mrs. Clara Flaucher of Lamont.
